Another new Swiss invention! Tenna, a village of 112 inhabitants located north of Zurich in the Grisons, launches these days the first solar ski lift in the world.The only ski lift in the station had stopped working, and the village had to find an original project for the region to attract tourists. The lift is 430 meters long and has 56 solar panels turning towards sun. It will produce a total of 90 000 kWh. Edi Schaufelberger and Felicia Montalto, project managers, cross their fingers for this innovative project to flourish. (Okay, maybe we don’t care as long as we get hauled up the mountain but still, it’s very nice to see how it can be done with green power!)
